Tenerife is top Christmas destination for 2005

The Paper - Tenerife reports via Travel Counsellors that Tenerife is the top destination for travellers wanting to get away and enjoy the sunny weather and lovely bearches:

According to leading travel agent Travel Counsellors, our sunny Island, Tenerife, is the top destination for Brits spending Christmas abroad this year.

This means that Tenerife has replaced Barbados, which for 2003 and 2004 held the number one spot. More good news revealed that Britons who are spending this Christmas abroad are forking out almost 30 per cent more on their festive breaks than last year.

Travel Counsellors goes on and tells that the average amount spent on Christmas holidays in 2005 was £2,869 compared to £2,138 in 04.

The visitors are spending an average on 11 days on the Tenerife island - a few more days than last year.

Staying longer and spending more money is truly a positive things for tourism in Tenerife and we can only hope the number(s) will increase this year too.
