Mapping out an eruption - Tenerife’s Mount Teide eruption risk?

TenerifeNews reports that

A team of scientists from the Estación Volcanológica de Canarias has unveiled the first-ever eruption risk map for Mount Teide. It aims to give a reliable evaluation of those zones considered to be at greatest risk in the eventuality of an eruption taking place in Tenerife.

The scientists claim the eruption report will be albe to tell the risk of an eruption on Mount Teide much earlier than they used to. The experts mention the central and north-eastern areas being the most like place an eruption could take place. The scientists have studied 30,000 years of evidence left by several eruptions on Tenerife.

Tourists, however, should not fear an eruption on Mount Teide in the near future as the volcano has been outwardly dormant since 1909 and there has been much low level seismic activity.
