Where would you rather be than Tenerife this winter?

Tenerife Today via Oasis FM reports about the outlook for the winter season here in Tenerife:

Well, local tourism chiefs hope the answer will be ‘Tenerife’ however, despite the recent increase in the number of British visitors to the islands reflected in the official figures for July, the Canarian Government’s Department of Tourism is not convinced that the winter season will be a great success as far as tourists from the UK are concerned.

The regional tourist councellor, Mr. Manuel Fajardo allegedly tells Tenerife Today that plans to analyse recent years of tourism are in place to initiate a more effective promo campaign for Tenerife. Due to the strong Euro, indications have shown that the British tourists are looking elsewhere for the prime holiday destinations in 2005/2006.

However The Brits need not worry, as the airline SpanAir, the Cabildo of Tenerife, every southern county. thr CEST businessmen’s Assosiation, Ashotel, the Commision for the Promotion of the souhern Island and Turismo de Tenerife have all made an agreement to allow 54 more flights to Tenerife this year.

As a result of the agreement, the company will increase the number of seats available by 52% providing links to Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Jerez de la Frontera, Madrid, Malaga, Santiago de Compostela, Sevilla, Valencia and Vigo.
